What did they do 50 years ago…?

Hi Peeps,

My doggy Shredder was put down last Tuesday, July 22, 2008 just after noon…

The vet assistants, two teen girls on the street and my best friend Todd were super awesome.

We had to carry Shredder on one of my blankets…

When we weighed him he had lost ~ 20 pounds since the last time he was weighed @ the Vets… he was 86 lbs(Vet & moi on the phone earlier, “He’s a big dog, 86 ilbs”) and showed as ~mid 60s weighed with the heavyish blanket… think about that! Losing close to 1/4 your body weight…

Shredder was ~14 1/2 years. Over the last few months he developed problems with his hips… oh yeah he was a German Shepherd/Collie cross(many of you probably know about how Shepherds develop hip problems later in life)… he walked slowlyish and fell once in a while.

And when you felt his hips you could feel huge knobs(1st time I’ve thought of describing it like this) sticking out, like TWO huge knobs sticking out. And then the last week of his life I felt along his spine and it was very ridgy(is this a word?), you could feel the bumps of his spine.

I will write about the events directly leading up to putting him down later…
